about me

I started this blog in 2009 after a full year of musing and idea-gathering on my part and some hounding about it on the part of my awesome, supportive friends. At the same time, after years of working in home design, first as managing editor of homeportfolio.com and then as a more hands-on designer in home furnishings retail, and after years of helping friends and family on decorating projects large and small, I started loft & cottage interiors.

It’s been the best thing I’ve ever done, and I will be the first to say I should have done it sooner. It has led to the enormous personal satisfaction of helping people through the milestones of their lives as manifested in their homes: a new room as baby matures from the nursery, a living room of shared possessions and a new life for a young, just-married couple. And it’s led to great professional satisfaction as my work has been recognized in Better Homes & Gardens. The blog has given me all that. I could not ask for more.

And yet more found me. In addition to my client work and decorating inspirations, on the blog you’ll now find more postings about my home life with my incredibly supportive, handsome, and talented fiance Michael and our adorable baby daughter Emerson. We are lucky to live in a century-old home in the Boston area and are fixing it up, making it just right for us, room by room.
