I've had some luck using dish soap + water in a spray bottle to spritz surfaces before spraying. Once spraying, you gently dab off the excess paint and you should (should!) see nothing where the soap solution was. Depending on how much you apply, you can get tiny dots of reveal or large splotches. Just a thought. The THIRTY bucks made me choke.
