everyday display in the kitchen

I decided yesterday's post needed to continue since I have sooo many open-shelf kitchens in my inspiration files. And when I read Ashley's comment that open shelving is a call to organization, I thought Yes! Exactly! Maybe that's part of why I love this look so much. Not only does it transform the functional and everyday into the beautiful, it only works when it's super neat and organized. That satisfies both my eye and my OCD tendencies. What say you?

Oh my - there is so much inspiration here. I love those wavy plates under the spoon art.

I like this look, but would also need hidden storage (for all my buzz lightyear melamine plates!). One thing I've noticed that all the dishes displayed are one to two colors. I like that - it keeps things simple and discourages you from buying 3 different types of dishes, etc.

I like the wooden shelves mixed with the white tile and cabinets in Amie Weitzman's kitchen. How do you keep the stuff clean is my question?? I love the look but keeping it clean would be such a chore.

These are beautiful kitchens. I'd love to have open shelving in at least one portion of our kitchen when we remodel it. It would be a great way to add a functional & decorative detail.

I love the contrast of the chunky wooden shelves against the white tile in the Amie Weitzman kitchen. That's my favorite look. Natural yet contemporary. Love the shiny white counter tops and the sink too. The fourth photo with the dark cabinets is one of my favorites too. I'd love to try open shelving when we remodel our kitchen some day, but we have two dogs and their fur seems to get everywhere. It may not be practical for us.
