living room painting progress

Believe it or not, there is living room paint progress, though it's going to be slow. Here's why. I decided to paint out the bottom half of the wall to match all the trim and create a sort of wainscoting/paneling effect. This means painting every piece of woodwork in the room to unite the white finishes/colors. And there's lots of woodwork.

The final colors: BM Dove White semigloss and an old Ralph Lauren color called Architectural Cream in eggshell. I can't exactly remember when I got the RL color mixed, but I bought a quart a while back and after lots of testing finally decided on it. I may have cut it down to 75%. Here's the formula if you like it. And I'm not sure if it's exactly readable, so if you want more info, feel free to email me!

The true grays, such as Revere Pewter and Edgecomb Gray didn't work for me, but this light cream does. For the most part. I am still semi on the fence with it—I know, I'm crazy! But it's not too warm, and at times can have a very subtle gray or even green cast. I do like how it changes throughout the day. Now, I have many more hours of painting to look forward to in this room, and maybe a few brush handle callouses, before I can start doing more fun things, like window treatments! Let's hope it goes fast!

Looks like a big job, but LOVE that thick baseboard effect. Very chic!

I looks great. The subtlety of the colors is fantastic, as is the architectural detail you have to work with!!

Casey, it looks great! I am also painting the section below the chair rail white and it is going to take forever. Part colors are so much harder for me to chose than they used to be. I have been trying the grays too and they keep coming up blue. Decisions!

Casey, looks great. Oh, I am so curious about the cream color by RL. Trying to decide right now on a nice warm white or cream color for our bathroom that doesn't get a lot of natural light. I tried BM Navajo White but it is too yellowish.

Looks great! I hope the painting goes by fast- I feel for you- it's tough work! The baseboards are beautiful, and I also love a paint color that changes with the time of day!
